How did you feel when you found out you'd secured a place in the London Marathon thought CHFT Charity?
When I got the email to say I had secured the place, I honestly felt like I had won the lottery. It’s really difficult to explain the range of emotions, I felt from shocked, excited, ecstatic, giddy. I have waited so long and can’t believe it. I feel like the luckiest person in the world.
I can’t thank the CHFT Team enough — every person that picked my application.
Thank you, thank you.
I will wear my CHFT T-shirt with pride.
Is there a personal reason or cause that inspired you to take on this challenge?
I love running but for me it is not just about the run. The way it makes me feel, I am free when I run. It is a huge challenge both mentally and physically. I am fortunate that I can run, able to run and although it will be tough, being able to raise money for a local charity means so much.
Like many people, I have had family and friends that have needed the care of the NHS — you really are all heroes, and if I can do anything to support such an amazing cause, I will.
What does running the London Marathon mean to you?
The London Marathon is the pinnacle of all marathons to me. To be able to take part in such a huge and prestigious event is everything to me.
It’s a bucket list dream that is about to become a reality. Every step, every mile will be for someone that needs this charity.
I feel so privileged to say “I am running in the London Marathon!
It is a huge worldwide event and to be chosen to take part is well just wow.
What are you most excited about (or nervous about) on race day?
I am so ridiculously excited about the atmosphere! I am nervous as well — terrified of getting injured but I will finish regardless, but that’s always a worry when running.
I remember getting the email and I had to read it again and I literally screamed!
I am so excited .. can’t wait to start my planning, prepping, training and fundraising.
I cannot wait to feel that adrenaline rush kick in on the day and I imagine it will pass in a blur.
Do you have any fundraising plans in mind or ideas for how you'll be raising sponsorship?
I have lots of fundraising ideas and plans and have a great support network.
I am looking at bucket collections, sweepstakes on my finish time, sponsor a mile, a fun fitness class, raffle!
I am a mobile hairdresser so thinking of different ways I can get my customers involved!
