CHFT Maternity Team Take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks for Bereavement Appeal

A dedicated team of CHFT midwives and support workers are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for our Maternity Bereavement Appeal.

The team includes Alice Baxter, Natalie Gledhill, Lily Fielding, Hannah Wood, Sian Wells, Rachael Cafferky, Susannah Kendall, Nicky Gibbon, Ann Frost and her sister Sally, Dionne Moore, Ann Taylor, Michelle Jones and Sophie Kibble, all of whom are stepping away from their day-to-day roles to take on one of Yorkshire's most iconic walking challenges.

Together, they will tackle Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in support of families experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss.

The Maternity Bereavement Appeal aims to create a dedicated bereavement suite, providing a peaceful, private and welcoming environment where families can spend precious time together away from busy clinical areas. The appeal will also support improvements to counselling facilities within the Early Pregnancy Unit, helping ensure families receive compassionate support in the right environment when they need it most.

Michelle Jones, Consultant Midwife, said:

"We are incredibly proud as a team to support the Maternity Bereavement Appeal by taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This appeal means so much to all of us. The funds raised will help us enhance our bereavement facilities and make such a difference to families' experiences in hospital at such a difficult time. Any donation, big or small, will make such a difference."

For the team, the challenge represents more than just a physical achievement. It is an opportunity to support the families they care for every day and help create lasting improvements to bereavement care across Calderdale and Huddersfield.

The team are fundraising through a JustGiving page and would be grateful for any support from colleagues and the wider community as they take on this incredible challenge:
