Former office space refurbished to support loved ones

A former office space on the Stroke Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital is now a quiet room, following a refurbishment.

Ward 7AD's Manager, Becky Sykes-Elwers, said: "This old office space is now a quiet, peaceful area for our patients' loved ones who may need to be here for longer periods, and where they can also just sit, make a brew or talk to our team.

"We were able to use our charitable funds to buy new chairs and have the space decorated. It really is comfortable. Little touches like a reed diffuser, plants and refreshments have been funded by our bake sales.

"The Palliative Care Team use it regularly to meet with relatives, as does our Matron, Sarah Williams, who meets with families.

"Relatives who have used it have said how lovely it is and the Palliative Care Team are very impressed with it too."

Sarah added: "It's an amazing initiative that has made a big difference! Well done team."
