A message from our local Sands group

"Having a new and enhanced dedicated bereavement suite for families experiencing the loss of their baby at CHFT means a great deal to the community. The current room is not ideal, during my own experience, I could hear other babies crying while I was desperately hoping to hear my own baby cry, knowing that moment would never come. For anyone going through the unimaginable, having a quiet, peaceful and calm environment will be an immense comfort and will make a painful situation a little more bearable.

"The additional of a counselling room and a space for Chaplaincy visits will help families feel more supported during such a difficult time. These extra touches can make a real difference in how families process their grief and feel cared for.

"It is incredibly important to provide families experiencing loss with better facilities and a more compassionate environment. The experience they have in that room is all they have to walk away with, the memories they make and the time they spend with their baby. They won’t leave the hospital with their baby, so having a space were they can shut out the world, without the heartbreak of hearing other babies, is essential.

"Support from the local community is vital for this appeal. Many people have been touched by the loss of a baby, whether personally or through a loved on. By coming together, the community can help ensure that others facing this tragedy are met with dignity, compassion, and the best possible care. Those who have experienced this kind of loss want to know that others going through it in the future will have a safe, supportive space during the most traumatic moments of their lives."
