Spring Grove Junior, Infant & Nursery School

Stylecraft kindly donated 10kg's of wool for Spring Grove to begin a knitting project in aid of our Neonatal Unit at CHFT. Teachers and parents of Spring Grove set up a support knitting club for vulnerable ladies who have problems and worries about early birth and miscarriage etc. Over a number of weeks, the ladies met regulary to knit, chat and share experiences of domestic.violent abuse, other life challenges and this focus on knitting helped them massively.

These ladies have knitted many wonderful items so CHFT Charity took it upon themseleves to visit the school to collect the items and to say a massive thanks to the amazing women who took time out of their lives to help such a worthy unit.

When we attended the school, we met such an inspirational little girl called Aniyla-Rae Jervis and her mum, Novlette Jervis. Aniyla-Rae was born extremely early and required a lot of help and care. Novlette couldn't thank the team at Calderdale enough for all their help and assistants in getting Aniyla-Rae to where she is today, this was another reason to set up the knitting club. Novlette took some of Aniyla-Rae's old babygrows and nappies with her to show us how small Aniyla-Rae was and she hopes that the knitted items will help parents who were in her position years ago.

We couldn't thank Spring Grove enough for their thoughtful gifts. We are looking forward to working with the school in the future.
