Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity would like to say a huge congratulations to two incredible CHFT colleagues, Zoe Russell and Sophie Box, who successfully completed this year's TCS London Marathon while raising vital funds for our hospital services.
Public Health Midwife Zoe Russell crossed the finish line in an impressive 5 hours, 36 minutes and 12 seconds, raising an incredible £5,337 for the CHFT Charity Maternity Bereavement Appeal. The funds raised will help support the creation of a dedicated bereavement suite, providing a peaceful and comforting environment for families experiencing baby loss.
Joining her on the famous 26.2-mile route was Sophie Box, General Manager for Reconfiguration, who completed the marathon in 6 hours, 33 minutes and 39 seconds. Despite only taking up running a few months ago, Sophie raised an outstanding £3,753 for the Trust's Oncology Department.
Demonstrating the compassion and professionalism that CHFT colleagues are known for, Sophie even paused her marathon to provide urgent first aid to a fellow runner who had become unwell during the race.
Reflecting on her achievement, Sophie said:
"I took on two marathons in two weeks for two charities close to my heart. An amazing experience, but definitely a one-time challenge for me. I am so grateful for the support from CHFT and proud to have raised a great amount for such important causes."
Together, Zoe and Sophie have raised more than £9,000 to support patients and families across Calderdale and Huddersfield, a remarkable achievement that reflects both their dedication and generosity.
Everyone at CHFT Charity would like to thank Zoe and Sophie for their hard work, determination and commitment to making a difference. Congratulations on an incredible accomplishment!
