Look Good Feel Better

Helping people to feel like themselves again during cancer treatment

Through the Cancer Information and Support Service at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, women affected by cancer can access support through the Look Good Feel Better programme.

Look Good Feel Better is a national cancer support charity that provides free workshops designed to help people manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment, boosting confidence, self-esteem and wellbeing at a time when they may need it most.

The workshops offer practical advice on skincare, makeup, and coping with changes to eyebrows and eyelashes. Just as importantly, they provide a safe and supportive space where participants can connect with others facing similar challenges, reducing feelings of isolation and helping them regain a sense of normality.

Every participant receives a complimentary goodie bag containing products worth up to £300, enabling them to continue using the techniques and advice they have learned during the session.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, these workshops can be delivered outside the hospital environment. Patients told us that stepping away from clinical settings and attending sessions in a more relaxing location was important to their wellbeing.

We currently hold monthly workshops at the Briar Court Hotel, a welcoming venue that is easily accessible to people from both Calderdale and Kirklees and offers free parking. The peaceful setting allows participants to switch off from the pressures of treatment and focus on themselves for a few hours.

Your support makes these sessions possible. Donations to the Cancer Information and Support Service help fund venue costs and refreshments which enables us to continue providing these life-enhancing workshops. By supporting this programme, you are helping people affected by cancer rebuild confidence, improve wellbeing and feel more like themselves again.
