Cancer Support Services
The Men’s and Women’s Cancer Support Groups at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust provide a welcoming and supportive environment for people affected by cancer.
Run through the Trust’s Cancer Information and Support Service, the groups offer an opportunity for individuals to connect with others who understand the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Through shared experiences, conversation and mutual encouragement, members can access emotional support, practical information and a sense of community during what can often be a difficult and isolating time.
A key feature of the groups is the variety of activities and information sessions available to attendees. Regular guest speakers are invited to share information about local services, community resources and sources of support that may benefit patients and carers. The groups also welcome a fitness instructor who delivers a range of taster sessions, including Pilates, chair-based dance and exercise to music. These activities encourage participants to stay active, improve confidence and support both physical and emotional wellbeing in a fun and inclusive setting.
The groups meet monthly at Legends Café Bar at the Accu Stadium, Huddersfield, HD1 6PG providing an accessible and welcoming venue for attendees.
The Women’s Group meet on the last Wednesday of the month between 2-4pm
The Men’s Group meet on the last Thursday of the month between 2-4pm
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has generously donated to the Cancer Information and Support Service. Your support enables us to continue offering these valuable sessions free of charge to patients and carers affected by cancer. We are also extremely grateful to the Accu Stadium for kindly allowing us to use their facilities and for supporting the delivery of the monthly support groups.
