Honouring Edward's memory - a legacy of love and support:

On Tuesday 14th May 2024 at 17:53, Edward George Fairley Stansfield was born sleeping. Delivered at 25 weeks, Edward was described by his family as a perfect baby boy. White their time with him was heartbreakingly short, Edward's mum, Makala, and dad, George, found moments of peace and compassion during this devastating period, thanks to the exceptional care provided by the midwifery team at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Edward's family were deeply moved by the kindness they received, not only by healthcare professionals but also by other families and charities. This support allowed the family to create precious memories with Edward, offering invaluable comfort during a time of heartbreak.

Makala and George were passionate to honour Edward's memory by giving back. They wanted to support other grieving parents with the same comfort and care they had received. Rallying the support of friends and family, they launched a fundraising effort in Edward's name.

The family were overwhelmed by the generosity they received and in total, they raised £935, reaching well over their original target. The funds were used to supply impactful items that would help other families experiencing baby loss. These included:

  • Memory-making kits
  • Thought journals
  • Parent wellbeing and toiletry kits
  • Sanitary products
  • Grief support books
  • Handmade baby clothes
  • Keepsakes
  • Handmade memory flowers

Each donation was made lovingly in memory of Edward, ensuring his short but meaningful life continues to touch others.

Makala and George said: "We were so thankful from the bottom of our hearts, for the generous donations and kind words in memory of Edward that were received. This allowed us to give back in Edward's name."

The family wanted their contribution to bring comfort, peace, and a sense of solidarity to others facing similar heartbreak. Edward's memory lives on - not just in the hearts of those who loved him, but in every family touched by the kindness his legacy has reached.
